Esteban returns to his tiny hometown of La Tigra to live with his lively old aunt and find his father, a trucker who now has a new family and is always on the road. While he waits for his father, he gets to know the new family and reconnects with Vero, a childhood friend Esteban soon discovers he likes as more than a friend. Federico Godfrid and Juan Sasiaín’s debut film applies neorealistic techniques and an extremely unhurried sense of pacing to approximate something like real life on screen, aided immensely by the likeability and undeniable screen chemistry of Ezequiel Tronconi and Guadalupe Docampo as the two leads and Ana Allende as the scene-stealing aunt, her singing in Czech being one of the movie’s more memorably unexpected charms. FIPRESCI Prize, 2008 Mar del Plata Film Festival.
